Erin Youngs – Lead Pastor

Erin received a bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of Wyoming and a Master’s Degree in Marriage & Family Therapy from Sioux Falls Seminary.  He also received additional coursework through The Wesleyan Department of Education.  He was licensed as a pastor in 1999 and ordained in 2003 with the Wesleyan Church.

Away from the church, Erin enjoys spending time with his family, camping in the summer and skiing in the winter.  He also spends time going to a lot of kids activities and coaching their sports.



Dave Caldwell – Associate Pastor

 Dave is originally from Garden City, Kansas, where he grew up on his family’s farm.  He attended Kansas State University where he came to Christ through the Navigator collegiate ministry. While there he began to lead small group Bible studies, and trained other students to do so as well. He graduated with a BS degree in Agriculture in 1985. After college he joined Campus Crusade for Christ staff, and toured with their multi-media ministry.  In 1990 he became a maintenance staff for a Christian camp and conference center, for 8 years. He and Amy were married in 1993, and have 3 children –  Abbie, Chris, and Alex. Amy is a teacher for Campbell County School District.  In 2000 Amy and Dave were part of a team that planted a Christian and Missionary Alliance church in Sheridan Wyoming.  In 2006 Dave and family moved to Gillette where he did an internship to become a pastor. In 2007 they moved to Curtis Nebraska where Dave was the pastor of Curtis Berean Church. Later, they moved back to Gillette, and Dave was a bi-vocational pastor for a time.  In 2014 they discovered Journey Church shortly after it’s launch, and began attending.  Dave’s passion is discipleship and small groups which he has participated in for more than 30 years.  At Journey he counsels, mentors, officiates weddings and funerals, assists Pastor Erin with projects, leads small groups and puts his 25+ years of building and grounds maintenance experience to work. He enjoys fishing, hunting, rappelling and gardening.


Kris Hunter – Youth Pastor

The mission of RISE Youth is to provide students with a safe place to grow in Christ and create authentic relationships with other students. Each week, the youth will dig into God’s Word and learn how it applies to the challenges they face in today’s culture. The students are given time to fellowship with their peers through games, snacks, or other outside planned events. Ages encouraged to attend are 6th grade-12th grade. Please come and bring your friends!

 

Kris was born and raised in Gillette, WY—1 of 6 boys in his family. He was active in football, soccer, and youth group during his high school years. He decided to pursue college football, playing one year at the University of Wyoming. He took a little detour and attended the Focus on the Family Institute in Colorado Springs. It was during this time that his passion for working with today’s youth was fueled. He decided to transfer to the University of Jamestown in North Dakota, where he continued playing football and received his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. It was in Jamestown where he also met his wife Heidi, who had also transferred there to complete her bachelor’s in nursing. Following graduation, Kris worked as a correctional officer at the state prison for a short time before working as the Ministry Director for Youth for Christ and Youth Pastor at their local church. During this time, God helped equip Kris for reaching youth with the Gospel, a calling that he had always felt in his heart he would someday have. After 3 years of marriage, Heidi and Kris found out they were expecting their first child, so they decided to take a leap of faith and move back to Gillette to be closer to family. On August 21, 2014 they were blessed with the birth of their daughter Sydney Nevaeh Hunter. Then on January 19, 2017 they welcomed their second daughter, Sawyer Marie Hunter. Kris currently works as a police officer for Gillette Police Department along with being the Youth Pastor for Journey Church. Heidi is a RN for Campbell County Public Health. In their spare time they enjoy being outdoors, working out, doing house projects, and spending time with family and friends. Kris feels honored to be the Youth Pastor for Journey Church RISE.
